While mistakes will always be a possibility, the use of a barcode system will reduce the number of mistakes, allowing for tighter control. If a person were to enter product ID numbers into a computer he may mistype something, whereas a barcode reader will accurately scan the code every time. Grocery stores rely on this technology to cycle through inventory, finalize sales and keep track of those sales. Being able to control inventory tightly allows for easy organization and better profits. And its all about the bottom line!
