Getting There – another 40 km under the proverbial belt

Posted by on March 20, 2012

Where does the phrase “under the belt” come from anyway…hang on I will google it. Be back in a bit….

Oh the googler – it answers all questions: “The original meaning appears to be to have eaten or drunk something. If you have a good meal and a glass of wine under your belt, it’s because you’ve swallowed them and they are in your stomach.
It’s now more commonly used for achievements one has accomplished, especially achievements that you can have more than one of. (Years in a business, first place prizes, prior relationships, etc.) ”

I completed a 40km ride on the BMX on Sunday – check out the GPS track below although I am beginning to question its accuracy;  I completed the ride in 2 hours, which when you do some simple arithmetic, gives you an average of closer to EXACTLY 20km/h and not 13km/h …but anyhoo I am slowly getting the km’s up and my little pins are feeling a bit stronger…
