Proof as Promised

So the ride back was not nearly as fun – it was thwart with a mild hangover, wind and a flat tire. I have to get on making sure that I am properly kitted with spare parts for the ride…and I might have to accept that creamy milk stouts do not contain the correct nutritional ingredients required to complete a 1500 odd kilometer ride – carbo-loading! What!

Ride to the Rugby

It seemed like a good idea – you know kill two proverbial birds with one stone – Go watch the rugby with my bro and get a training ride in. For those of you astute enough to notice, the GPS track below is one directional - Problem is that beer and bmx don’t mix so well and I had to stay over and complete the ride the next day. GPS proof of return leg coming up in the following post.

More Cowbell

Thought it appropriate to include this video what with me riding as a cow! It’s so many kinds of classic and is appropriately aligned with the madness of riding a BMX from Cape Town to Johannesburg. “I need more cowbell!” is actually code for I need more donations. Now go on and donate to the cause. I need more cowbell. MORE COWBELL!

More cowbell” is an American pop culture catchphrase originally derived from an April 8, 2000, Saturday Night Live comedy sketch which fictionalized the recording of the song “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” by Blue Öyster Cult. The sketch featured guest host Christopher Walken asmusic producer ”The Bruce Dickinson” and regular cast member Will Ferrell, who wrote the sketch, as fictional cowbell player Gene Frenkle. In the television special Saturday Night Live: 101 Most Unforgettable Moments, this sketch is moment number five.

90 km/hour…on a bmx!

Together my BMX and I are capable of much  but the recorded 90km/h I did on Sunday is surely a GPS error? Surely!? Oh no wait…I recall now…I went down Jan Smuts and overtook a bus and my eyes were streaming tears in excess of the amount that poured when I watched Marley and Me (don’t judge – you also got something in your eye in that movie) . No one streams that much without going fast…I did 90km/h on a BMX!  FACT! 93km/h according to the GPS stats below. Woop Woop

First Donation Received!

Wooohoooo! I just received my first GivenGain donation for The Cows and CHOC… albeit from myself through Big Inja Technologies. A little like posting yourself a birthday present I know but at least with this the Childhood Cancer Foundation benefit and not just my fabricated sense of popularity. Did I say Woooohooooo! I cant wait for legit donations to start rolling in – I bet you can’t be the first!

Sylvia is a bitch

The training ride was going great until I went up Sylvia’s pass and my pumping lungs almost burst through my chest cavity…

Watch me ride – Example GPS tracking that will be available

This is just an example of the GPS tracking we are trying to implement for the ride. Clearly I will not be in the US and will not be hiking – have you not been listening? I will be riding a BMX!
